Eglon Boat Launch and Picnic Area
PORT OF EGLON
Since Its establishment in 1919 The Port of Eglon has been an integral part of the northern West Sound community. It served as Eglon’s main point of commerce, mail and contact with other Puget Sound areas by boats of The Mosquito Fleet until 1924 when a road from Kingston was established. Supported by tax assessment through the Eglon Port District its primary purpose is to serve the public as a no-charge boat landing, an unimproved picnic area with a fire pit and picnic shelter and tables. The Port Commissioners are elected by voters within the Port District. They are responsible for maintenance and improvement of the port.
The community uses the facilities for 4 picnics each summer, Memorial Day, 4th of July, 1st Sunday of August, and Labor Day, and the community gathering each Wednesday night during the summer.
